We are thrilled to give you an inside look at Phase 1 of our massive overhaul to Temporary Permitting. This project is a direct result of us listening to your feedback and requests for a more versatile, streamlined system.
In fact, our Client Success Team has been the true champion of this initiative. They’ve been advocating for these changes based on the daily challenges you’ve shared, and we are moving forward to make your vision a reality.
We’re moving away from making your parkers “pick a permit” and toward an intelligent engine that does the heavy lifting for you.
Why the Change?
We’re creating a Unified Rate Engine to replace legacy “full hour” rounding bugs. This redesign makes temporary permitting more versatile and streamlined, regardless of the method—QR codes, real-time maps, or guest checkout.
What’s in it for You (The Admin)?
We are building a completely new Rate & Template Management suite designed for speed and scale:
-
Reusable Pricing Templates: Define a “Standard Downtown” template once and assign it to multiple lots simultaneously.
-
The Visual Block Painter: Use a weekly grid to “paint” time slots with specific rates. You can even merge multiple hours into a single Flat-Rate Block.
-
Layered Priority: Stack up to three priority layers. Want to override standard rates for a specific event? Just paint a higher-priority layer over your base template.
-
Early Bird “Sale Windows”: Support rates that only appear if the purchase happens within a specific window (e.g., a $10 Early Bird that expires at 9:01 AM).
What’s in it for Your Customers?
A frictionless experience that guarantees the best possible price every time:
-
Duration-First Selection: Users select their date and time first. The system then automatically applies the cheapest rate—like choosing a flat rate if it’s cheaper than the hourly total.
-
The Rate Stacker: Seamlessly handles complex stays, like combining 1.5 hours of hourly rates with an Evening Flat Rate into a single permit.
-
The “Overnight Bridge”: Prevents permits from expiring at midnight; instead, they remain valid until the next “Lot Opening” time.
What’s Next?
We are currently in the Scope Refinement phase. As this develops, we will remove legacy code to ensure a clean, modern system. We are also building a “Migration Bridge” to help transition your existing lots into this new architecture effortlessly.
Stay tuned for screenshots and more information as this develops over the next few months!
